Sultanov UDC 621.039.5 The higher safety requirements make it necessary to develop more accurate mathematical models of neutron-physical processes occurring inside operating reactors and reactors which are under development, specifically, inside cells, as one of the main phases of the calculation. An example of such a model is the method of surface pseudosources [1, 2]. On the one hand this method can be used to take account of various subtle effects with an accuracy adequate for practical applications (for example, the influence of the cylindrical shaping of the outer boundaries of a cell in a multigroup calculation on the calculation of its small-group characteristics). On the other hand the computational time for a cylindrical cell is the same as for an n-gon cell [3]. Ordinarily, in a calculation the real hexahedral, square, and trihedral cells are replaced by cylindrical cells with the con- dition that the area of the real cell is the same as that of the cylindrical cell.
