[The polyethylene glycol (PEG) method is one of the most appropriate approaches for extracting DNA from bacteriophages. The standard method of preparing DNA entails numerous expensive, time-consuming processes and delivers low DNA yields. This procedure, on the other hand, is quite simple and rapid. The PEG method is based on the solubilization of phase particles and macromolecular crowding of DNA, which may then be purified with phenol and precipitated with ethanol. The concentration of PEG required for precipitation is inversely proportional to the size of the DNA fragments. This method can also be used to extract DNA from bacteria and fungi.]
