[Previous chapters have demonstrated the evolution of digital pathology, starting as merely a telepathology and educational tool to its more recent use in whole slide image analysis, whereby the computer itself performs diagnostic testing on whole slide images (WSI) to assist pathologists in diagnostic and disease-staging processes.
