Inhibition of localized fruiting in this complex was achieved by addition to the agar block of the primary carbon source ( d -glucose, 2%), but not with other medium ingredients. Initial events in localized fruiting included an ever increasing interaction of secondary and tertiary branches from various origins which led to complex hyphal lattices. Aerial mycelium arising in a restricted fashion from a hyphal lattice eventually developed into a macroscopic fruit-body primordium.
