Pugach The certification of engines, with an evaluation of their service characteristics, fuel consumption, and power characteristics, is based on the use of a diesel reference fuel. In accordance with a program of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe CtJN ECE), a group of experts on environmental protection and energetics in cooperation with petroleum refiners and automotive vehicle manufacturers has developed a diesel reference fuel under the designation RF-03-A-84 (Table 1). The proper- ties of this fuel match those of European diesel fuels that are average in terms of specification requirements and actual quality indexes. However, there are certain fuels on the European market that are inferior to this reference fuel in some woperty indexes such as density, viscosity, and cetane number.
