The mechanism and nature of blast furnace refractory lining material breakdown under the action of alkali-containing slags is considered. Corrosion activity is analyzed for alkali-containing slags with respect to blast furnace refractory lining and physicochemical criteria and model evaluation are proposed for evaluating alkali-containing slag corrosive action.
