Constants of formation of monoligand Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes with ampicillin anion at 20°C with KNO3 background electrolyte (0.1, 0.4, 0.7, and 1.0 mol/l) were determined by potentiometric titration. Concentration constants were extrapolated to zero ionic strength according to the Hückel equation and thermodynamic formation constants logβ° (CdAmp+) and logβ° (ZnAmp+) (3.43 and 3.80, respectively) were obtained. The possible structures of complexes were discussed.
