The results of the studies of the radiation purification of polluted water and wastewater conducted in the author's laboratory in cooperation with other Institutions are summarized in this paper. The main attention is paid to the application of pulse radiolysis and computer simulation for the elucidation of the mechanism of purification. Data are presented on the features of radiation (predominantly electron beam) treatment of water contaminated with various pollutants (a mixture of isobutylnaphthalene sulfonates which is used as emulsifier in the production of synthetic rubber, heavy metal ions such as Hg(II), Cd(II), Pb(II), chlorobenzene, formic acid, and so on).
