This study determines the optimal sectional properties of a galvanized iron corrugated sheet using the finite element method. The findings are established based on the results of the deflection and natural frequencies of the sheet. The investigation is carried out through a parametric study by varying its thickness, width of the horizontal flange, angle of corrugation and aspect ratio, keeping a constant sectional area. The bottom flange of the sheet is assumed to be fixed. The sheet is subjected to a uniformly distributed transverse load. Several interesting findings are observed in which the study provides an effective corrugated sheet with varying sectional properties. The corrugated sheet’s optimal thickness is obtained as 1.5 mm, and the effective angle of corrugation is 60°. The present study may be useful to the designers in the industries for analysing and designing the trapezoidal corrugated sheets.
