A Psychobiography of Viktor E. FranklIntroduction

A Psychobiography of Viktor E. Frankl: Introduction [This chapter provides an introduction to the psychobiographical study on Viktor Frankl. The study uses Wong’s (2011, 2019, 2020a, b) theory of Positive Psychology 2.0 (PP2.0) to illustrate the life of Viktor Frankl, an Austrian neurologist and psychiatrist as well as a Holocaust survivor who developed his own theory of the will to meaning as a mean to overcome suffering and adversity. This chapter introduces the psychobiographical approach to research in the field of psychology and provides a brief account of Frankl’s life. An overview of Wong’s (Wong 2011, 2019, 2020a, b) theory is also provided to orientate the reader to the theoretical structure that guided the process of data collection and the study itself. It emphasizes finally the researcher’s motivation regarding the research study (the emic perspective) and provides an overview of the structure of the study (the etic outside).] http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png
