Notes Between Yoris and Guarijíos 549 acknowledgMents I am deeply grateful to the University of Arizona's Southwest Center and Journal of the Southwest for publishing Among Yoris and Guarijíos: Chronicles of Anthropology, and to the Instituto de Investigaciones Antropológicas at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México for providing the financial support to reproduce David Burckhalter's beautiful photographs. I am especially grateful to Dr. Jeff Banister for his English translation of the manuscript, which has allowed this work to traverse linguistic borders and become available to a new and different audience. His efforts with this manuscript have been brilliant and exemplary, producing the kind of high-quality translation that can only come through hard work and a deep knowledge of the local and regional forms of the Spanish language present in this research. Perhaps this is why it has taken so long to complete an English-language version, despite a longstanding interest on the part of other researchers at the University of Arizona in doing so. I hope that Anglophone readers find something of interest in this book, and that they enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed writing it. Teresa Valdivia Dounce Tepepan, Tlalpan, Ciudad de México 1.
