Authors' Biographies Troy Adams is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Eastern Michigan University. He has been on the faculty for over 15 years. He earned a Ph.D. at the University of Michigan in 1990. He has been awarded grants ii-om the Office of Educational Research and Development, U.S. Department of Education, Bentley Historical Library, The University of Michigan, and Michigan Campus Compact. His research interests include secondary school violence and discipline, social inequalities, and more recently outcomes research on service-learning in higher education. Kristine Ajrouch is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Eastern Michigan University. She earned a Ph.D. in Sociology from Wayne State University in 1997 and then received postdoctoral training in the field of aging through the School of Social Work at the University of Michigan. Recently awarded a grant fiom the National Institute of Aging, she conducted a pilot study on the topic of social relations and health among aging Arab Americans. Her research interests include health, cross-cultural comparisons, social relations, immigration, gender, and identity. She currently serves as Chair of the American Sociological Association Section on Sociological Practice. Carol S. Campbell teaches at McNeese State University and has a Ph.D. from Louisiana State University.
