Introduction G. A. Webb, Scientiï¬c Editor Section C of volume 98 of Annual Reports on the Progress of Chemistry consists of the customary series of reports on various areas of physical chemistry and chemical physics. Some of the topics reviewed represent core areas of science whilst others relate to more specialised ones. Ten areas of molecular science are reported on in the present volume: Neutron reï¬ection studies of interactions between surfactants and proteins at interfaces by J. R. Lu, Gas phase molecular spectroscopy by P. Crozet, A. J. Ross and M. Vervloet, Recent progress in astrochemistry by D. A. Williams and S. Viti, NMR studies of self diffusion in liquids by H. Weingärtner and M. Holz, Recent developments in calorimetry by S. L. Randzio, Tunable infrared laser spectroscopy by R. F. Curl and F. K. Tittel, Neutron and X-ray diffraction studies on complex liquids by G. W. Nielson, A. K. Adya and S. Ansell, Developments in high temperature superconductivity by T. Silver, A. V. Pan, M. Ionescu, M. J. Qin and S. X. Dou, ZEKE spectroscopy: into the new millennium by R. C. Shiell and T. G. Wright and State-to-state rotational inelastic scattering of free radicals by H.
