Race equality training and values-based practice

Race equality training and values-based practice Many people find discussing issues of race and race equality difficult, but for mental health staff, an understanding of the differing values of people from diverse cultural backgrounds can increase confidence, awareness and sensitivity in service-user assessments. This article discusses a study of the application of a values-based practice model to race equality training among staff in a 38-bed acute inpatient ward in Milton Keynes. The identification of widely differing interpretations of race and racism raised questions about the efficacy of current race equality policies. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Mental Health Practice Royal College of Nursing (RCN)
