INSECTICIDE EFFICACY TRIALS FOR REDNECKED CANE BORER ON BLACKBERRY, 2002

INSECTICIDE EFFICACY TRIALS FOR REDNECKED CANE BORER ON BLACKBERRY, 2002 (C3) BLACKBERRY: Rubus hybrid, 'Navajo' Donn T. Johnson AGRI BLDG 311, Department of Entomology University of Arkansas Fayetteville, AR 72701 Tel: 479-575-2501 Fax: 479-575-2452 dtjohnso@uark.edu Barb A. Lewis Rednecked cane borer (RNCB): Agrilus ruficollis (F.) Efficacy data for Admire against Rednecked cane borer (RNCB) on blackberry was collected because methoxychlor is no longer registered for use on blackberry against RNCB. Treatments were in a randomized complete block of plots consisting of 30 blackberry plants with three replicates in a blackberry planting in Western Grove, AR. On 22 May 2002, treatment applications were soil drenches of Admire 2F (low rate) and Admire 2F (high rate), foliage applications of Methoxychlor (one spray) and Methoxychlor (two sprays, 22 May and 3 Jun) and the untreated check. Sprays of Methoxychlor were applied to foliage at the rate of 200 gal/acre using a Solo backpack diaphragm pump sprayer at 40 psi (one cone nozzle). The Admire treatments were applied as soil drenches via a watering can at the rate of 400 gal/A. The numbers of galls per plot caused by RNCB larval tunneling were counted on 17 Oct. All four treatments appeared to significantly reduce the number of galls produced by tunneling of the RNCB larvae. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Arthropod Management Tests Oxford University Press
