• Stavros Afionis is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Sustainability Research Institute of the University of Leeds. His doctoral research examined the role played by the European Union in international climate change negotiations. His research interests currently focus on environmental politics and in particular on international climate change negotiations and global biofuel policies. � Marcos S. Buckeridge is an associate professor in the Department of Botany at the University of São Paulo and directs the Instituto Nacional de Ciência e Tecnologia do Bioetanol. He was the scientific director of the Brazilian Bioeth- anol Science and Technology National Laboratory from 2009 to 2012. He was a lead author for Chapter 27 (Central and South America) of the Fifth Report (AR5) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. He has authored more than 140 publications in plant sciences and is currently president of the Academy of Sciences of the State of São Paulo. � Radoslav Dimitrov has worked in UN diplomacy since 1999, as government delegate in climate negotiations and rapporteur for the Earth Negotiations Bulletin. He is an associate professor of political science at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, and former consultant on climate diplomacy to the World
