Abstract

Clinical Case Report Disclosing HIV Positive Test Results to a Suicidal Male By Kathleen M. Nokes, Ph.D., R.N. and Luis Cerra, M.D. black male. He admits to using IV drugs up until two years ago but denies recent IV drug use or that he shared needles during the time of his drug use. This individual had worked as a messenger, but found that he was growing too tired to do the work. He complains of recent weight loss of about ten pounds, but relates this to the increased physical exercise related to his job. He says that he drinks alcohol quite often because "it helps [him] to forget [his] troubles." He denies any support system, saying that he has had trouble with maintaining intimate relationships and that he is estranged from his family. He denies any interest in sexual activity.
