European Review of Private Law 6-2010[1273-1275] Ó Kluwer Law International BV | Printed in the Great Britain Testing the Draft Common Frame of Reference Report of the International Conference on `The Draft Common Frame of Reference: A National and Comparative Perspective' (Kortrijk: Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Campus Kortrijk, 10­11 June 2010) RODRIGO MOMBERGÃ There is no doubt that without regard to academic or political criticisms, the elaboration and publication of the Draft Common Frame of Reference (DCFR) represent a breakthrough in the history of European private law.1 The large amount of academic works already produced concerning the DCFR confirms that assertion. Besides, a number of conferences and seminars have been organized in order to analyse and discuss its purposes, scope, and future role. However, the conference organized by the Katholieke Universiteit of Leuven at its Kortrijk Campus has been the first conference dedicated to a comparison and evaluation of the substantial content of the DCFR and the rules of a national legal system. Two things made the conference highly attractive: the quality of the speakers and the possibility to hear an assessment of the DCFR from the perspective of a national (the Belgian) legal system.
