The different outcomes in various countries of the procedures in which its recovery is sought. And, furthermore, the differences in outcomes within a country, depending on the type of case. This makes Pure Economic Loss in Europe and Pure Economic Loss interesting and useful for both scholar and practitioner. 2. Pure Economic Loss in Europe The aim of Pure Economic Loss in Europe is on the one hand to provide a theoretical overview of the possibilities to recover damages for pure economic loss in Europe. At the same time, this theoretical overview is immediately applied to a variety of practical situations: `case studies'. The book starts off with an introduction to its subject, i.e. the definition of pure economic loss, which in itself already is a point of discussion. Generally, pure economic loss is defined as damage not consisting of damage to persons or property or direct consequential loss.
