Six years after publishing their Administrative Law and Policy of the European Union, Herwig C. H. Hofmann, Gerard C. Rowe and Alexander H. Türk returned as editors of a monumental volume that aims to deal with the ‘sectoral’ administrative law of the EU. While their previous piece was devoted to analysing the general administrative law of the EU, i.e. the body of administrative law, which is – more or less – applicable to and across all substantive policies or fields, the aim of the current publication, written by twenty-seven academics, is to address the specifics of EU administrative law, governing selected areas of substantive fields. This approach by the editors deserves a certain clarification, as it – to certain extent – deviates from the approach that is classically followed by major con- tinental traditions of scholarship. In particular, the German and Austrian tradition has traditionally distinguished general from special parts of administrative law.
