The erythrocyte sialoglycoprotein was purified from cells with complementaryABO(H), MN and Ss phenotypes. Serological examination of the sialoglycoproteinpreparations demonstrated that this molecule does not carry the ABO(H),I or Ss antigens. The results also suggest that Ss activity may be associated with aminor erythrocyte glycoprotein. The characteristics of the ABO(H) and I antigensare consistent with earlier suggestions that these antigens are carried on complexglycolipids.
