Retinal Projection to the Inferior Colliculus in the Rat

Retinal Projection to the Inferior Colliculus in the Rat A few retinal fibers projecting to the contralateral inferior colliculus were observed in the albino rat by means of the silver impregnation and HRP methods. After passing through the stratum opticum of the superior colliculus, these fibers pass via the anterior pole to the dorsal and lateral parts of the colliculus. The fibers to the dorsal part run upward in the superficial layer of the colliculus, and the fibers to the lateral part turn lateralward at the anterior pole. In 1 case a few fibers projecting to the posteromedial part of the colliculus were also observed. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Cells Tissues Organs Karger

Abstract

A few retinal fibers projecting to the contralateral inferior colliculus were observed in the albino rat by means of the silver impregnation and HRP methods.
