The trimeric phosphinogallane (Me2Ga-PPh2)3 was prepared by the room temperature reaction of trimethylgallium with diphenylphosphine in toluene. The title compound, characterized by 1 H NMR, 31 P NMR, elemental analyses, and single-crystal x-ray diffraction, crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n (No. 14) with one trimeric phosphinogallane and two toluene solvent molecules per asymmetric unit. The unit cell parameters were a = 14.455 (3) Å; b = 22.541 (4) Å; c = 16.847 (4) Å, β = 105.53 (2)°, Dcalcd = 1.30 g cm −3 , a V = 5289 (2) Å 3 , for Z = 4. Refinement converged at R = 0.039, Rw = 0.054. The crystal structure reveals that the title compound resides about a Ga3P3 six-membered ring in a chair conformation with a mean Ga-P bond distance of 2.433 (1) Å.
