Box 616,6200 MD Maastricht The Netherlands Introduction A new approach to the study of the mind, called Connectionism, Parallel Distributed Processing, or Neural Networks has entered the stage. Until quite recently the public either adored or detested the actress, while serious critics were silently trying to assess her many claims to respectability and success. Lately some of her logic-chopping brought her into the courtroom, where she was accused of producing mere ravings. Some of her followers depicted these very accusations as only some sort of deathrattle. Yet, she was challenged to defend herself, while feelings ran high. It seems that she is now preparing a plea about her tenability. Some readers may have become interested in hearing about the accusations that were put forward. Indeed, she herself asked me to please her by making a report on her offenders so as to set the stage for some brilliant answer.
