'L'Affaire Koltès': A Contextualization
AbstractIn this article David Fancy contextualizes and discusses the Affaire Kolt s that has occurred in French theatre over the past two years. Fran ois Kolt s, brother and literary executor to French playwright Bernard-Marie Kolt s (1941-1989), withdrew the rights from a French National Theatre, la Com die Fran aise, to his brother's play, Return to the Desert , after only thirty shows. At issue was the 'Arabness' of one of the characters cast. Suits and countersuits resulted.
