WOODEN VATS For Corrosive Liquids

WOODEN VATS For Corrosive Liquids Amongst all the materials from which it is possible to make containers for the storage and processing on a large scale of corrosive liquids there is a tendency for wood to receive rather less than the attention it deserves. Several factors contribute to this. The training of the chemical engineer includes instruction on the properties of steel, stainless steel, nonferrous metals, lead, rubber, plastics, etc., but very little on the subject of wood. As a result he tends to fight shy of wood, or only to consider it after he has first considered all the other materials which he feels he understands better. The following article describes the properties and applications of wood as a material for vat construction. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials Emerald Publishing

Abstract

Amongst all the materials from which it is possible to make containers for the storage and processing on a large scale of corrosive liquids there is a tendency for wood to receive rather less than the attention it deserves.
