UNDPs Management Development Programme The UNDP governing council established the Management DevelopmentProgramme MDP in 1988 with a facility of 60 million. Theobjective of the MDP is to assist developing countries in improvingtheir public sectors by enhancing their governments managementcapabilities. The programme is open to all countries wishing toparticipate and it is the role of the MDP to help governments to developcomprehensive programmes aimed at strengthening public sector managementon a longterm basis. By the beginning of June 1990, more than 70countries had requested support from the MDP and the interest continuesto be considerable.
