Transport Selection Computer Modelling in a Spreadsheet Environment

Transport Selection Computer Modelling in a Spreadsheet Environment Tradeoffs among logistics cost and service elements often maketransport selection analysis difficult, especially when demand isuncertain and carriers offer different rates and services. Thespreadsheet environment offers a powerful, managerfriendly medium foranalysing these tradeoffs. This microcomputer application exploits someof the recent advances in spreadsheet technology to provide transportbuyers with a tool for evaluating such complex logistical tradeoffs. This tool demonstrates how the emerging spreadsheet technology makes itrelatively easy to develop a computerbased model that can capture arich level of detail that is beyond the scope of the current transportselection models using analytical approaches. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png International Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management Emerald Publishing
