Training and HR Strategy in France Discourse and Reality The recent evolution of the provision of continuedinservice training in French companies is describedand analysed. This evolution is placed in its legal,political and social context with emphasis beingplaced on the interaction between state action andmanagerial strategies. It is shown how an interplayof continued social democratic legislation andinnovation in Human Resources Managementpolicies has served to place training at the top ofthe economic and social agenda in France. Abstract
