Effective Set Advising in Action Learning ProgrammesJournal of European Industrial Training, 14
A model of effective set advising is researched from a literaturereview and repertory grid interviews with set advisers, and is thentested against experience. The model framework describes the keyactivities what, the advising processes how and the purposes andmotives why. The dimensions of adviser interventions are alsoidentified as content, process, feelings and administration. Totalcontingency theories are challenged and behavioural and conceptual toolsare developed by which advisers can be coached and developed over thedynamic life cycle of the set. This model can help adviser and sets tounderstand and negotiate their respective roles to achieve the specificgoals of the group.
