Torque Reaction and Vibration CONSIDERABLE attention has been paid by writers to the subject of engine torque and the corresponding torque reaction to the engine mounting. Most of the large amount of literature bearing on this subject has been confined to a consideration of the amplitude of torque fluctuations in various arrangements of multicylinder engines. The great increase in uniformity of torque consequent on an increase in the number of cylinders has been stressed time and again. The large amplitudes attained by the inertia torque at high speed and the effect of gas torque in modifying this inertia torque have all been considered in detail.
