Tools for Helping SelfDevelopment

Tools for Helping SelfDevelopment The subject matter for this article is onthejob coaching by the tutorcatalyst, as opposed to coaching by the boss. In some ways this is a revolutionary tool in that it is virtually unknown for management teachers to go and sit alongside a manager at his place of work and seek to help directly. And yet a visitor from Mars would not be surprised. He would think, quite naturally, that a management teacher would be a highly experienced manager and would teach management, in the main, where the managing was done. We have come to expect otherwise but I can suggest, with tongue only part in cheek, that a management teacher ought to be capable of teaching managers onthejob, and that ought to be the qualifying test of his competence http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Journal of European Industrial Training Emerald Publishing

Abstract

The subject matter for this article is onthejob coaching by the tutorcatalyst, as opposed to coaching by the boss. We have come to expect otherwise but I can suggest, with tongue only part in cheek, that a management teacher ought to be capable of teaching managers onthejob, and that ought to be the qualifying test of his competence
