Purpose – This paper aims to describe the document supply services of the Russian State Library.Design/methodology/approach – The paper is descriptive in nature.Findings – After the hiatus of the 1990s the document supply service has recovered and is developing new electronic services. Resource sharing is also growing.Originality/value – The paper provides a historical and contemporary overview of the development of document supply in Russia and the Soviet Union.
