IT is ironically true that with all our progress the calculation and estimation of the resistance of a streamline body is still not a matter of precision. And yet the streamline body is the foundation around which all aircraft design is built. It is true that the true body, of complete circular section, is only to be met with in airship hulls, which are not of common interest nowadays. But the fact remains that it is the basis of all fuselages, struts and practically every component of an aeroplane.
