The County Library Circle THE past eight years has been a period of pioneer work and experiment in the development of county libraries all over Great Britain, but, despite the vast amount of actual service provided, the most important lesson we have learned is the realization of what must still be done before we have created a service to meet obligations efficiently. The purpose of the county library is to supply to every potential reader, with the minimum of trouble to him or her, any book, on any subject, at any time.
