The fortyseventh annual report of the U.S. Food and Drugs Administration is included in the recently published Annual Report of the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare for 1953. Modern food legislation in Great Britain may be said to have its origins in the series of Acts passed between the years 1860 and 1875, but in spite of the longer history of our legislation this report suggests that U.S. legislation has made greater fundamental progress.
