Hazard studies for the design of safe process plant are now well established, being applied in the process industries worldwide. The application of total quality management forces the question what procedures can be put in place to reduce variability and to consistently perform a study which meets the customers requirements The form of record and the features required of a computeraided recording system are discussed.
