The postwar years have witnessed an everincreasing recognition of the importance of a high level of productivity. This country's economic and financial position, and the growing competition from Germany and Japan, continue to emphasise the need for increased productivity here at home while at the same time the reports of the AngloAmerican productivity teams, so ably summarised by Graham Hutton We Too Can Prosper, indicate the extent to which we still lag behind the United States.
