SELECT LIST OF STANDARDS AND OTHER AIDS FOR EDITORS AND PUBLISHERS OF TECHNICAL LITERATURE The purpose of this list is to indicate some of the tools which may help those concerned in editing and publishing scientific and technical papers to present their material in the clearest, most effective and most economic manner. Whether authors or not, they should certainly be familiar with at least some of the guides to good technical writing in the foregoing bibliography they should especially heed the compiler's opening remarks, and above all the final passage. But there are other problems besetting the technical editorlayout, references, transliteration and technical symbols, for exampleproblems which are greatly simplified by the adoption of standard practices where these have been established.
