Proposes a classification of different production categories andtheir respective productive systems and defines various classes ofplants which carry out repetitive manufacturing. Also examines theapplicative possibilities of repetitive production in regard toproduction volumes required and grades of flexibility necessary. Amongthe intermittent production systems described are those which presentstrong analogies with repetitive manufacturing systems in particularthat of the ZanussiElectrolux plant in Susegana, Italy. Finally,describes the fundamental elements which differentiate repetitiveproduction from intermittent production.
