Polytetrafluoroethylene is processed from the raw polymer, known in the U.S. as Teflon and in this country as Fluon, into a translucent or white plastic possessing excellent chemical and physical properties it is chemically inert and will resist the action of solvents and other chemicals with the exception of fluorine and molten alkali metals.
