Attempts to find answers to such theoretical questions as thecharacter of Soviettype societies and the major tendency of theirdevelopment. Argues that, as long as the analysis is conducted inconvenient and extreme terms of either capitalism or socialism orcommunism as long as the yardstick for the comparison remainscapitalism of laissezfaire and as long as the general trendand the particular forms of the world economic development are ignoredno satisfactory answer to the nature and fate of such societies can befound. If, however, one looks at Soviettype systems as socioeconomicand political structures destined to solve the problem of the industrialrevolution and modernization of backward and peasant nations under theconditions of the twentieth century, then the enigma disappears.Soviettype societies become what they are in reality a variety ofcapitalism that, having fulfilled the archaic act ofindustrialization, is moving into its postindustrial era.
