WITH THE RECENT ENTRY into production of its new 144inch hot rolling mill at Rogerstone, Alcan Industries Ltd. has reached the halfway stage in its fouryear 8 million expansion programme entered into in 1958 to increase the output capacity of the aluminium continuous strip mill by 50 to 75,000 tons a year. This expansion is being carried out in such a way that a further increase could bring the ultimate capacity up to 175,000 tons. When the expansion has been completed the Rogerstone mill will, it is claimed, be the best equipped and the largest of its kind in Europe.
