This article stems from work carried out by the authors at amanufacturing company in South Wales. There are two main themes. Thefirst concerns the need for companies to adopt an integrated ITstrategy. The second is concerned with management training anddevelopment. The main conclusion of the article is that lack of trainingcan have a crippling influence on system development and the generalhealth of a company. Some suggestions are put forward as to how torectify the problem.
