The main theme of the paper is the discussion of an inherent, but largely ignored approach to the successful implementation of business process reengineering (BPR) - the operations management approach. Through the use of a case study of a major public hospital in the UK, the paper will demonstrate that effective BPR programmes derive their viability from solid grounding in the area of operations management.
