Implementing Enduser Computing in Smaller Firms

Implementing Enduser Computing in Smaller Firms The characteristics of small and medium firms relevant to endusercomputing EUC are examined, including organisational structure andmanagerial style, information systems IS functions, computerapplications, and end users. It recommends an EUC implementationstrategy based on these characteristics and presents an organisationalchange orientation. Because of the greater role of EUC in those firms, this strategy may expedite the technology transfer process and enable afirm to reach a more mature stage of computer use. A case study ofsuccessful EUC implementation using this strategy is discussed. The casestudy includes the firms computing history, the EUC implementationprocess, successes and the reasons. Since the environments of manysmalltomedium firms are comparable to the firm in this case study, asimilar approach to EUC implementation may be adopted by those firms. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Industrial Management & Data Systems Emerald Publishing
