Editorial: the first 50 years of industrial management and data systems Welcome to the 2021 first issue of Industrial Management & Data Systems (IMDS)! It has indeed been a challenging 2020, but despite the challenges, IMDS has continued to receive plenty of supports from our editorial board members, authors and reviewers. Although most editorial board members and reviewers would have no doubt encounter various challenges caused by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, they have still contributed to the success of IMDS by submitting important articles, providing timely reviews and more importantly, continued to promote IMDS to our peers and academic community. As of writing this editorial, we have received a total of 712 papers this year, and IMDS has published 112 papers in 2020. We have also published two special issues in the areas of “Data intelligence and risk analytics” and “Advanced Issues in PLS Path Modelling: New Guidelines for Business and Information Systems Research” in 2020. According to the publisher information, the special issue “Financial Technologies: Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, and Crowdfunding” published in 2019 was downloaded most among other special issues in recent years.
