They are worried about the lack of pensions to keep us living rent? the lifestyle we are used to: now they are realising that living to a ripe old age also means an increased demand for care services. The Department of Health published its vision for adult services in the future in its Independence,Well-being and Choice white paper; but it does not really signpost where or how older people will be living in 2020. The Government is also backing extra care housing as an option and suggesting that older people could be given the right to refuse to live in residential care. But what other options will be available to them? Choice can only exist if there are sufficient options from which to choose.
