MILK TRENDSThe Liquid Milk Report 1991 has revealed some interesting data about milk consumption. For example, although 98 of households buy milk, the proportion of those buying it from the milkman has declined from 82 in 1985 to 68 in 1990. More housewives are buying from the shops and the milkman and more are buying from shops only. Over 50 of working housewives now buy milk from a supermarket compared with 15 ten years ago. The two main reasons given for this is thatthe household sector from 7 in 1985 to 26 in 1990. In Canada, France and the Netherlands over 50 of liquid milk consumption is of semiskimmed milk, while in the USA, Denmark and Italy semiskimmed has reached over 40. Children are above average consumers of semiskimmed milk which now accounts for 49 of their consumption.
