The possibility of introducing flexible working practices isinvestigated, focusing on the position of area catering supervisor inSutcliffe Catering Ltd. The investigation was carried out in the lightof demographic changes currently facing British industry. It isconcluded that the position of Area Catering Supervisor can be madeflexible by either introducing flexible working practices within the jobdescription or by introducing flexible arrangements that do not changethe structure of the job, but enable tasks to be conducted more easily.It is recommended that these changes are introduced in two stagescomprising shortterm and longterm initiatives.
